Somaliland and Sustainability

Sustainable energy projects are blooming in Somaliland. Students and professionnals from Somaliland and from all over the world are joining their strength and knowledge to bring services such as :

• Waste management 

• Plantation of forests 

• Deliveries of medicine 

• Sustainable cooking solutions 

• Energy storage 

• And so much more ! 

Sustainable cities are also on the way, we can imagine in the next 10 years the growth of areas filled by sustainable properties. “Somalia is one of the fastest urbanizing countries in the world – by 2026 Somalia’s urban population will overtake its rural population.”¹ 

A lot of Urban Development Programs are being directed to manage the biggest cities in a sustainable way.  

Have you heard of "The Somaliland National Vision 2030” where the private sectors, the civil society and the Somaliland Diaspora are encouraged to “to embrace the principles stated in the vision 2030 and apply them in the design and implementation of national programs and projects during the implementation of the National Development Plan”². This vision is based on 7 principles, . Citizen participation, Self-reliance, Sustainability, Competitiveness, Equity, Good governance and Preservation. 

Based on our own research, we can definitely tell that Somaliland is the next destination for innovation and sustainable growth.
